Sugar Cane Hawaii Denim – Lot SC40401

Sugar Cane Hawaii Denim – Lot SC40401

Inspired by the rich heritage of the Hawaiian Islands, the Sugar Cane Hawaii (Lot SC40401) is one of the most distinctive models in Sugar Cane’s legendary Sugar Cane Fiber Series. Combining premium Japanese craftsmanship with locally sourced Hawaiian sugar cane fibers, this model delivers a denim experience unlike any other.

Made from a unique blend of 50% cotton and 50% Hawaiian sugar cane fibers, the fabric offers a rugged texture while naturally benefiting from the antibacterial and deodorizing properties of sugar cane. Over time, the denim develops bold, high-contrast fades that are unique to every wearer.

The Fabric

The Hawaii is crafted from 14oz Japanese selvedge denim, woven on vintage Toyoda shuttle looms using Double Ring Spun yarn and a low-tension weaving process. The weaving process is slow and time-consuming, with only a limited amount of fabric produced per day on vintage Toyoda shuttle looms. The weft is then driven in with greater force, causing the weft yarns to overlap, resulting in an uneven texture.

Although technically unsanforized, the denim has been factory one-washed, so virtually no additional shrinkage should be expected after purchase.
